The Schooner Virginia website is multi-faceted. One goal of the site is to inform prospective passengers and allow them to book a voyage. Another allows the real-time tracking of the schooner while it is on voyages via GPS/Satellite feed of longitude and latitude that feed the Google Map. Also on the map is the ability to see specific tracks that the Schooner has traveld (pictured above). There is also an online payment system for accepting donations. All areas of the site are managed by administrators via online content management tools.

Scholar360 Website & Online Software

- Site Design
- Software Development
- Technical Direction
- Interface Design

The Scholar360 website and software is my primary project and the largest in scope that I've worked on to date. I provide technical and design direction and have been involved in the development of the software and user interface for over 4 years. The software was a finalist for the CODiE award this year.

As a Designer

I've been involved in website design, print design and interface design for over 10 years. My clients tell me they appreciate how keep complex functionality down to a simple, manageable interface that is not intimidating. A large focus and passion of mine has always been on usability. I find it a great pleasure to provide designs that are appealing but also keep the user involved and properly guided to the information they seek. I also have an interest in photography, as many designers do, and have done some photography work for clients who needed specific concepts or product shot.

As a Programmer

I've been programming in PHP/MySql for 6 years. I enjoy the ability to take something that only exists in concept and bring it into reality. Problem solving and creatively finding a solution to customer request I find to be alot of fun. I've programmed everything from small ad rotation systems to full scale educational software platforms.

As a Person

I live with my wife Sonya Lorelle in Port Norfolk, which is the historic area of Portsmouth VA. I enjoy traveling, doing photography, skiing, hiking and most other outdoor activities whenever I can get from behind the computer screen. My counselor friends call me an 'expressive introvert', which means I enjoy my quiet time but I'm not quiet at all around people I like.
